Here’s a journal inspiration to help you begin your own journal journey.

I’ve been making journal spreads for as long as I can remember. The techniques I use are also the same ones that I use for my card making and scrapbooking pages.

Have you tried journaling before? It’s a lovely way to record your emotions, events, lists, schedule and memories. There’s no set rules on making a journal. It’s a self-expression art form so follow your style and go with what feels and looks right for you.

My journal spread today is just an example of what you can do. Here are some ideas using the Comfort and Hope stamp set:

Create layers on your page. I like to stamp images on top of Designer Series Paper (DSP). Stamping let’s you create layers without the added bulk.

Find uplifting and encouraging words in your stamp sets and use them on your pages. Then, layer the words with textured stamps like dots and lines. Experiment with colour too when you’re layering different images on top of each other to create added interest.

Incorporate 3D elements in your spreads. Use ephemera that you like such as wax seals, feathers, magazine cut-outs, pockets, tickets, maps etc.

Here’s a checklist of materials I used for my journal spread today:

I hope that you enjoyed this journal inspiration and that you’ll also give it a go. Use it as an opportunity to use your stamp sets beyond card making.

Visit the online store and browse through the many stamp sets, inks, papers and tools that you can inspire you in your journal.

Would you also like to make journal spreads in class? Let me know so we can organise one for you. Bring along your friends too so you can share the experience.
