This Advent Calendar workshop is lots of fun.

The fun-fold pockets are for counting down the days until Christmas. It’s a fun tradition that you can do with your family every year even after the kids have grown. Little kids enjoy it because the little treats inside the pockets are what they look forward every day until the big day finally arrives.

Here’s how to do the pockets called Diaper Fold for the pocket:

  1. Use a square piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP).
  2. Fold in half to form a triangle.
  3. Position the straight side of the triangle towards you and then bring the 2 pointed ends of the triangle and fold towards the opposite side. You should end up with a pentagon shape.
  4. Fold the flap down to reveal a pocket inside.

Repeat this process 25 times and attach to a frame to make your calendar.

Thank you to everyone who attended my workshop to learn this Advent Calendar technique. As I have suggested, you can make one for your home or give it as an early Christmas present. Families with small kids will appreciate this. How about one for your child’s teacher too?

It’s a gift that keeps on giving. It stores flat so it can be kept and brought out again the following Christmas. It becomes a handmade heirloom especially if you take care of it.

It’s wonderful to create Christmas traditions like this. If you haven’t made one before, why not give it a go this year?

Visit the online store for current Designer Series Paper (DSP) for your Advent calendar.
