I’ve always been a fan of clever papercrafting. It is the kind of project where a few simple folds or a bit of well-placed adhesive creates something that actually solves a problem. Lately, I’ve been reaching for these one-layer pocket cards every time a birthday or thank-you rolls around.
The concept is pretty straightforward. It is a clean, elegant card with a built-in pocket on the front. For these samples, I’ve been playing around with the Stampin’ Up! Balloon Festoon set. I love how the balloons add a bit of lift to the design, but the real magic is in how practical the card is. It is the perfect size for a gift card, a bit of cash, or even a printed photo.
Because the design is so streamlined, it doesn’t feel bulky. You get the handmade charm without the fuss. I usually keep the back of the card plain so there’s plenty of room to write a proper message. It turns a last-minute gift card into something that feels thoughtful and personal.
I’ve been making these in batches lately because it’s quite satisfying to see a little stack of them ready and waiting in my desk drawer. While I’ve used balloons here, the template works with almost anything.
If you’d like to make a set of these yourself, I’m actually teaching this design in an upcoming Cardmaking Class in Melbourne. We’ll be using the Balloon Festoon stamps but also playing with a variety of other designs so you can walk away with a stash that covers everything from birthdays to graduations.
Check out my class schedule for the latest events or get in touch if you’d like to book in a private class.
Happy crafting!
