Preserving Memories: The Sweetest Way to Say Hello

There is something so incredibly grounding about pulling out the stamps and dies and just losing yourself in a project for a few hours. Lately, I’ve been completely obsessed with the “Filled with Sweetness” set from Stampin’ Up!, and I haven’t been able to stop making these little jam jar cards.

It’s not often that a set of dies really surprises me, but these ones are special. I love the way they cut that distinct, rounded jar shape. It turns a standard card into something that feels like a little treasure you’ve just pulled off the pantry shelf. Pairing them with that classic gingham paper just hits that perfect note of nostalgia for me. It’s a bit like making a batch of strawberry or orange marmalade, only without the mess in the kitchen!

I’ve been spending my afternoons experimenting with the different fruit stamps in the set. Whether it’s the citrus slices, the strawberries, or those sweet little blueberries, each one brings a completely different personality to the finished piece. It’s the kind of project where you don’t need to rush; you can just sit with your ink pads, play with the layering, and watch the card come to life under your hands.

What’s been even more fun is realizing how much you can twist the concept just by leaning into your own creativity. I’ve started playing around with different ink combinations and masking techniques to see how many “varieties” of preserves I can stock in my imaginary pantry. You can try stamping the fruit in more muted, vintage tones for a rustic look, or go bold and bright to really make the card pop. I’ve even been experimenting with adding little extra die-cut elements or using different textures on the labels to make each jar feel like a unique, small-batch creation. It’s amazing how a slight change in layout or colour palette makes the whole thing feel like a completely new project.

Because I’ve enjoyed the process so much, I’ve decided to make these the focus of my next cardmaking class at my Oakleigh South studio. I think they’re going to be a brilliant project for us to work on together. We’ll be going through the process of stamping the fruit, die-cutting those perfect jar outlines, and finding the best way to tie off those little bows.

If you’ve been looking for a reason to carve out some creative time for yourself, I’d love to have you join me for a session. It’ll be a relaxed afternoon—the perfect excuse to step away from the daily grind and make something that’s genuinely lovely to send to someone.

Keep an eye on the website for the upcoming class dates and booking details. I can’t wait to see which “flavour” of jam you end up creating for your cards!
