Fun Fold Cards Turning Paper Into a Home

Fun Fold Card

I’ve been spending quite a bit of time at my desk lately, just playing around with how a simple, flat piece of cardstock can transform into something with so much more personality. There is something endlessly satisfying about the “fun fold” process of taking a standard rectangle and, with a few precise scores and cuts, turning it into something unexpected. It’s like magic, but with paper and a bone folder.

For my latest Cardmaking Class, I’ve been working with the Home Sweet Home dies from Stampin’ Up! I love how these dies turn a simple sheet of paper into an adorable little house shape. It’s one of those projects that really makes you stop and appreciate the mechanics of craft.

The best part? It’s the “wow” factor for the person on the receiving end. When they pull this card out of an envelope, it looks like a charming little house. But when they open it up, the structure can reveal your personalised, handwritten message. It’s not just a card anymore; it’s a little keepsake that sits perfectly on a mantelpiece or a desk.

Whether you’re looking to mark a new chapter for a friend—like a housewarming or birthday—or just want to send a bit of sunshine, these house cards are such a lovely way to do it. We’ll be walking through the scoring and folding techniques that make the structure sit just right—it’s a great way to get comfortable with more intricate dies while enjoying a relaxed afternoon of creating.

The detailed process of assembling these is honestly the highlight for me. There’s something meditative about getting the folds crisp and seeing the house take shape under your hands. We’ll have a variety of papers on hand so you can choose the style that suits your own personal home aesthetic—whether you’re going for something rustic or a bit more whimsical.

If you’ve been looking for a reason to get back into your supplies or just fancy a bit of creative company, I’d love for you to join us. It’s always such a joy to see how everyone picks their own patterns and colours to make these little houses feel like home.

Would you like to come along and make a set of these? I’d love to have you join my craft class at my Oakleigh South studio.
