Christmas Tag Ideas

When we think of Christmas, we often think of the “big” things: the tree, the dinner, the main event. But for me, the heart of the season is found in the smallest details, like the handmade tags tucked under the ribbon of a gift.

In a world of one-click ordering and overnight shipping, there is something deeply grounding about a gift tag that was cut, glued, and tied by hand. It’s a physical reminder that someone took a moment out of their busiest month to think of you.

A handmade tag is a tiny letter of intent. It says that the person inside the paper is worth more than a store-bought sticker. Whether it’s a button saved from an old coat or a snippet of a vintage book page, these little scraps carry a warmth that plastic packaging just can’t replicate.

I love that no two of these tags are exactly alike. One might have a slightly crooked snowflake, and another might have a smudge of ink, but that’s exactly what makes them beautiful. They have “soul.” They aren’t perfect; they’re human.

I’ve always felt that the presentation is the first part of the gift. It’s the “prologue” to the story inside the box. When a friend sees a tag made with care, the celebration starts before they even break the tape. It turns a simple exchange of items into a shared moment of creativity and connection.

This year, I’m leaning into that slow, handmade feeling. I hope these tags inspire you to look at your gift-giving not as a task to be finished, but as a chance to create something small and lovely for the people you love.

  1. Thanks! Very flattering when people appreciate my work.

  2. Very nice Alpha. We went to the St. James Bazaar last week and they were selling hand made flowers for gifts. Very expensive and nothing compared to what you do. – aimee
