Paper Trimmer – Essential of the Month

If you have ever sat down to create handmade cards or start a new project with your scrapbooking supplies, you know that the foundation of every great design is a straight line. Nothing ruins the “wow” factor of a beautiful card faster than a wonky edge!

Today I am kicking off my new series featuring the items I reach for most. There was no doubt which one would take the top spot. The Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer is quite literally the backbone of my studio. Whether I am prepping for craft classes or enjoying some therapeutic late-night crafting, this tool is always on my desk.

Stampin' Up! Paper Trimmer

More Than Just a Paper Cutter

What makes this specific trimmer a standout for paper crafting? For me, it is the versatility. Unlike many trimmers that only cut, this one comes equipped with two different blades: a dark grey blade for crisp, clean cutting and a light grey blade for scoring.

Scoring is my “secret sauce” for professional-looking projects. It creates a neat groove in the cardstock, allowing it to fold perfectly without the paper cracking or fraying. If you want your cards to stand up straight and look boutique-quality, scoring is the way to go.

Features I Love

  • The Extra-Wide Base: I love that the 19.7 cm base allows me to work on most standard card sizes without even needing to extend the arm.
  • The Extendable Ruler: When I am working on a 12″ x 12″ scrapbook page, the ruler swings out to 43 cm so I never have to guess a measurement.
  • Dual Measurements: I often jump between imperial and metric measurements depending on the tutorial I am following, so having both on the grid is a lifesaver.
  • The Protected Grid: I have used many trimmers where the numbers rub off over time, but this one has a durable plastic cover that keeps the measurements clear and easy to read.

Visit Me in Oakleigh South

Learning to use your tools correctly is the best way to build your crafting confidence. If you are looking for a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator in Melbourne, I would love to show you how I use this trimmer to get the most out of my cardstock.

I host regular card making workshops in Oakleigh South where we dive into various stamping techniques and tool tutorials. It is a lovely way to meet local creatives from Bentleigh, Mulgrave, and Clayton while picking up new skills in a relaxed environment.
